This winter, RHS Garden Bridgewater is set to sparkle once again as RHS Glow returns, transforming the grounds into an enchanting after-dark adventure filled with colour, sound and festive magic. Running on selected evenings from 26 November to 30 December, the illuminated trail invites visitors to experience the garden in a whole new light, complete with shimmering installations, seasonal soundscapes and plenty of cosy winter treats.
As night falls, the landscape is brought to life by 24 radiant artworks, including 13 pieces making their RHS Bridgewater debut and four brand-new commissions created exclusively for this year’s event. From interactive moments and poetic sculptures to unexpected pockets of wonder, every turn of the trail offers something to surprise and delight visitors of all ages.
Two UK premieres headline this year’s experience. At Garden Cottage, internationally renowned artist Tine Bech unveils Enchanted Exchange — a playful installation that gives visitors the power to control the colours of the light display while linking RHS Glow to Lightwaves Salford via a live webcam. Over in the tranquil Paradise Garden, Breathe by Kaleider gently drifts across the lily pond, moving with the wind and the glow of light to create a calming, meditative centrepiece.
Continue along the Long Walk beneath glowing snowballs and you’ll soon hear the joyful soundtrack of Swing Song, created by Bristol Light Festival under the direction of Katherine Jewkes. Here, six illuminated swings respond to movement, playing musical notes as you soar. Each rider becomes part of the music — whether adding melody, rhythm or bass — with the tune growing more intricate the higher you go.
The trail then winds through a corridor of glowing hexagons in the Community Grow Garden and into the Wellbeing Garden, where the beloved Moonlight Gardener returns to conjure up more of his mesmerising light-made treasures. In the Kitchen Garden, festive favourites including the Pealight Stars and Star Arch create perfect spots for magical winter photos.
Visitors can follow the Let it Glow projections toward the Worsley Welcome Garden, where giant sparkling hedgehogs brighten the Yew Lawn, before reaching the finale at Moon Bridge Water. Here, shimmering Cluster Columns rise from the landscape, creating a peaceful, dreamlike end to the journey.
And no winter wander would be complete without something warm in hand. Along the route, guests can tuck into hot chocolate, mulled wine and toasted marshmallows — ideal for warming up between installations or pausing beneath the festive lights with friends and family.
Whether you’re exploring with little ones, enjoying an evening out with friends or simply soaking up the seasonal atmosphere, RHS Glow at RHS Garden Bridgewater promises a magical night filled with light, creativity and festive cheer.
