A brand-new immersive space experience is set to arrive in Manchester next month, giving visitors the chance to explore the wonders of the universe without leaving Earth.
Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience will open in the city’s Northern Quarter on 6 August, following its UK debut in London earlier this summer.
Created in collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), the free-roam attraction combines real astronomical data with interactive technology to take visitors on a journey through stars, galaxies, exoplanets and black holes.
Manchester Visitors Can Explore The Universe

Designed using decades of scientific research, Smithsonian Starstruck transforms complex astronomical discoveries into a fully immersive experience where guests can walk through the cosmos, interact with installations and experience the scale of the universe first-hand.
Visitors will travel alongside some of the world’s most powerful space observatories, including the Hubble Space Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory, exploring everything from the birth and death of stars to distant galaxies and supermassive black holes.
The experience begins at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory’s Whipple Observatory before launching guests into space alongside a digital cosmic guide named Astro.
Throughout the journey, visitors will drift through thousands of galaxies, travel across the Milky Way, fly close to the Sun and encounter extreme exoplanets while learning more about humanity’s place in the universe.
Real Space Science Brought To Life

Developed alongside scientists at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, the attraction has been designed to make cutting-edge astronomy more accessible to audiences of all ages.
The experience celebrates centuries of scientific discovery while showcasing how research continues to deepen our understanding of space.
It also highlights the role of major observatories and space telescopes in uncovering some of the universe’s biggest mysteries.
Following successful launches in Washington D.C. and London, Manchester becomes the latest city to host the experience as part of Fever’s growing portfolio of immersive cultural attractions.
