Blossoms return with their brand new single “Joke About Divorce”, out now via ODD SK Recordings / Distiller Music.
Following a landmark 2024 that saw them secure their fourth UK No.1 album with Gary and play to tens of thousands of fans across a sold-out UK tour, the band step into a new era with their first new material since the expanded edition of Gary.
Joke About Divorce, produced by Shawn Lee, finds Blossoms leaning into the sharp, observational songwriting that has long set them apart, balancing emotional honesty with their unique sense of humour.
Frontman Tom Ogden says:
“During every argument, no matter how big or small, there’s always that moment where humour could completely disarm you both and diffuse the whole thing.
“On this occasion, I thought joking about divorce would do exactly that, I just got the timing completely wrong.
“Instead, it made things worse, and that moment ended up immortalised in a three-and-a- half-minute pop song.”
Surreal Visuals and Chart Success
The official video opens with an unexpected compère before moving into a stylised, pink-washed set.
Centred around Ogden, a troupe of identically styled dancers appear, adding a surreal, theatrical edge to the performance.
The video was both directed and edited by Tom Ogden.
Almost a decade on from their 2016 debut, which earned them a number one album and a Mercury Prize nomination, Blossoms have become one of the UK’s most consistent chart-topping bands, with Foolish Loving Spaces (2020), Ribbon Around the Bomb (2022), and 2024’s Gary all reaching the top spot.
Touring and Festival Circuit
Throughout 2025, Blossoms played live across the UK, returning to major festivals including Glastonbury, performing a series of outdoor summer shows and continuing to take Gary to ever-expanding audiences.
They carried that momentum into early 2026 with a European headline tour, performing in cities including Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam.
This summer will see the band return to the festival circuit, headlining Neighbourhood Weekender and appearing at Tramlines.
Joke About Divorce signals the start of a new phase for Blossoms, with more new music to follow later this year.
