Malmaison Manchester, a 4-star boutique hotel in Manchester city centre has revealed the first look of its newly refurbished guest rooms, suites, and Malmaison Bar & Grill, completed in March 2023.ย
The refurbishment of 60 of the hotelโs 167 bedrooms including 5 corner suites combines design influences from Manchesterโs iconic history with subtle nods to the origins of the building itself, formally a Joshua Hoyle and Sons Cotton factory, an industry pivotal in putting Manchester on the map.
Refurbishments include the addition of bold pops of colour, feature walls and Manchester themed artwork throughout. Adding signature Mal flair, pop art style portraits feature famous Manchester icons including cartoon superhero Dangermouse.
The five newly refreshed corner suites include even more references to the buildingโs past as a warehouse reflected in the subtle use of materials and textures producing a warm and modern industrial feel, and inclusion of subtle cog details in the carpets.
As part of the renovation, all corridors and communal areas have also been refreshed.
An effort has been made to ensure refurbishments are sustainable with a focus put on โupcyclingโ existing signature pieces and furniture.
Furthermore, Malmaison Manchester has also unveiled a soft refurbishment to its brasserie, which re-opened asย Malmaison Bar & Grillย this March.
The refurbishment includes the addition of a refreshed bold colour scheme and intimate seating options interspaced with new artwork and feature pieces inspired by Manchesterโs art and design heritage. Signature Mal flair interweaves modern touches with nods to the industrial origins of the building through the mixing of fabrics, materials, and textures.
Malmaison Bar & Grill houses one of the city’s only Josper Grills – a monstrous artisan indoor charcoal barbecue oven that flames and cooks steaks to a smoky perfection. Guests can even sit ringside and watch this magic at work.
